Our pillars of success

Government & Policy

CBN provides a forum for industry to discuss and inform, acting as a conduit between members and government.

Our key objectives

Shaping the UK cybersecurity policy and regulatory framework

As the threat environment increases, the policy and regulatory framework surrounding cybersecurity continues to mature. An approach based around establishing a common level of security and measured on outcomes, is evolving to a more prescriptive basis.

Recent developments have seen an increased focus on the protection of CNI, the importance of data sovereignty and sovereign capabilities, and more sectors brought into the scope of cybersecurity regulation. This trend is only likely to increase as we face a more contested world driven by technology.

Government policy is made alongside industry and other stakeholders, providing plenty of opportunity to shape and inform the development of the regulatory environment.

Our key Government and policy objectives are:

Ensure a regulatory framework that promotes innovation

Promoting the UK cybersecurity market as an enables of economic growth and resilience

Raising awareness and knowledge of cybersecurity with policymakers

Educate members on the latest policy developments

Since stepping into my role, CBN has become a useful conduit between our team at the Department for Business & Trade and the wider UK cyber market. Their work in developing the trade mission to RSA and the support they provide for UK cyber companies looking to export themselves to the US market is invaluable.
