Cybersecurity Business Network kicks off 2026 with January Members Meeting
21 January 2026

The Cybersecurity Business Network (CBN) opened its 2026 programme with a dynamic and constructive members meeting, bringing together organisations from across the UK cyber ecosystem for an evening of discussion, insight, and collaboration.
Led by CBN Chair and former Minister for Digital Matt Warman, the session brought together members from across the cyber sector – including C‑suite leaders, policy experts and key industry voices – to explore how the UK can strengthen its cybersecurity strategy in the year ahead.
A timely conversation on the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill & Cyber Action Plan
A central focus of our January meeting was a lively roundtable on the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill’s second reading and the government’s newly announced Cyber Action Plan, and what they mean for UK organisations operating across different areas of the economy.
Delegates shared their perspectives and questions around the Bill, including:
- Whether the bill should mandate compliance to existing standards, such as ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials.
- Does the bill work effectively alongside existing regulations, such as the Telecommunications Security Act?
- Should guidance referenced in the Bill receive a comprehensive consultation before it is legally mandated?
- How the bill can be amended to encourage better governance, skills, and long-term investment in cyber resilience.
The discussion helped us refine our strategy in acting as a collective voice for industry, with CBN intending to submit written evidence to the Public Bill Committee as the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill progresses through parliament.
Shaping CBN’s 2026 priorities
Members also contributed their thoughts on CBN’s 2026 priorities, including how CBN can support the wider industry in:
- Supporting practical, real‑world resilience for organisations of all sizes.
- Championing skills and education at board and workforce level.
- Showcasing innovative UK cyber capabilities and solutions.
