Building Practical Resilience: Industry Input for the Next Phase of the National Cyber Action Plan

On Thursday, 9th April 2026, senior leaders from across the UK cyber, technology, and vertical sectors will come together with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) for an in-depth roundtable on the National Cyber Action Plan, examining ways to build practical, real-world resilience into the UK’s digital economy.

Hosted by the Cybersecurity Business Network (CBN), this two-hour, closed-door session will help shape the National Cyber Action Plan, the next phase of the government’s National Cyber Strategy, due for publication this April.

Why this roundtable matters

The Government’s Cyber Action Plan and the progression of the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill have signalled change in the UK’s approach to cyber security and resilience strategies. The National Cyber Strategy will centre on three core pillars: Resilience, Counter Threat, and Sectoral Growth, with the National Cyber Action Plan focusing on resilience.

DSIT is now moving into the implementation phase, and therefore seeking direct input from industry to ensure the next iteration of the National Cyber Action Plan is:

Within this session, DSIT is specifically focusing on exploring new approaches to resilience, inviting delegates to share practical and actionable insights for its new strategy’s deployment.

Hear directly from DSIT, and help shape what comes next

Delegates will hear an opening presentation from Irfan Hemani, Deputy Director for Cyber Security at DSIT, outlining the current Government position on resilience within the National Cyber Action Plan.

This will be followed by a structured roundtable discussion with contributions from senior industry delegates, alongside representatives from DSIT and CBN.

The roundtable will be organised into three focused blocks (c. 30 minutes each), designed to move quickly from challenges to solutions:

  2. Investment, Skills, and Standards
  3. Policy, Governance, and Insurance
