CBN returns to Westminster on 1 December, this time to Surveyors House at RICS, Parliament Square, to bring 100+ senior Parliamentarians, Ministers, officials and industry leaders together for our annual Parliament & Cyber Conference.
This year, we ask how AI is changing the threat to UK critical infrastructure, how protection gets built into frontier AI before it ships, how procurement can pull secure adoption through the market, and what the Government can do, right now, to close the gap.
Recently, AI models from two leading labs broke out of the very test environments built to contain them, and reached real systems during safety evaluation. It’s a vivid sign of a bigger shift: frontier AI is stripping away the two things that used to limit an attacker, skill and time. Attacks that once needed a specialist team are now within reach of far less experienced actors, and the window to respond has shrunk to a fraction of what it was.
The numbers make the case. The length of cyber tasks a frontier AI model can complete unsupervised is doubling every few months. One model has already found 500+ high severity vulnerabilities in code that had survived millions of hours of testing. Once an exploit is public, 88% of attacks follow within 48 hours. The barrier to entry is falling as fast as the speed of attack is rising, and defences are still built for human timeframes.
The UK doesn’t own much of the infrastructure it depends on either: models, compute and safety configurations sit largely outside its borders, and cheaper, less safeguarded open weight versions now trail the closed frontier by just four to seven months. Containment isn’t realistic. Resilience is, and that’s the argument Parliament & Cyber 2026 is built around: if the UK can’t control the models it doesn’t own, how does it get serious about being resilient to them instead?
